Tower crane is a fully slewing jib crane with a tower-like structure. It is a common means of transportation in large civil engineering construction sites. It can move construction materials and construction machinery up and down in a crisscross direction. The task of moving objects can be completed quickly. One end of the tower crane is used to lift objects, the middle is a control cabin, and the other end is balanced with a giant concrete block. Tower cranes are usually fixed in the center of a building so that objects can be moved to different locations and heights.

Tower cranes are a modern form of balanced cranes that consist of the same basic components. Tower cranes are fixed to a concrete slab (sometimes attached to the side of the structure) and usually provide the best combination of height and lifting capacity for the construction of high-rise buildings. The base is then connected to the mast, which gives the crane height. In addition, the mast is connected to a slewing unit (gear and motor) that allows the crane to rotate. There are three main parts on top of the slewing device: the working boom, the jib, and the cab. The working boom is the part of the crane that carries the load. The jib carries a counterweight, usually a concrete block. The tower crane can be controlled by the cab or a wireless remote control. The cab is usually located on top of a tower connected to a turntable and can be mounted on a boom. The lifting hook is operated by the crane operator using an electric motor. The hook is located on a winch on a long horizontal arm and is used to lift construction materials. The optimal location of the tower crane on the construction site has a significant impact on the material transportation costs of the project.
